I recently had one of those conversations that leaves you feeling energized and full of fresh ideas. On the KaiNexus Continuous Improvement podcast, I sat down with our co-founder and CEO, Greg Jacobson, to chat about our journey into 2025, the evolution of our annual user conference–KaiNexicon–and what continuous improvement really means for us.
Kicking Off 2025 with Energy and Optimism
In our conversation, Greg shared how the year is off to a bustling start for our team. With just over 40 dedicated professionals working in a lean environment, every day is a balancing act. We wrapped up last year's goals and set ambitious targets for 2025, all while maintaining the agility that defines our culture at KaiNexus. Greg's confidence in our financial outlook–built on sound, bootstrapped business practices–resonated with me. It's a great feeling to know that, even in the ever-shifting landscape of software as a service, we're riding tailwinds instead of headwinds.
Why KaiNexicon Is So Special
KaiNexicon has evolved from a modest gathering into our ninth annual user conference–a true testament to continuous improvement in action. When we first launched the conference, our team attendees were current customers. In fact, about 90-95% of those who show up are already deeply invested in the KaiNexus experience.
One of the aspects I love most about KaiNexicon is how we've taken every bit of feedback–from the early days right through to now–and turned it into tangible improvements year after year. We use detailed checklists and keep refining every element of the event, which is why many of our customers say it's the best conference they attend. It's incredibly rewarding to see our efforts make a real difference in how our community experiences and practices continuous improvement.
Continuous Improvement: The Heart of Our Work
For me, continuous improvement isn't just a buzzword–it's a way of life, both in our product and in our approach to customer interactions. During the podcast, Greg and I talked about “SpeedNexus,” a session that really encapsulates this philosophy. Every five minutes, attendees rotate and share insights with a new customer, sparking a rapid-fire exchange of ideas. I've seen firsthand how these sessions leave people buzzing with 20-30 new ideas to test out with their teams. It's an energizing reminder of what happens when you create the right environment for collaboration and learning.
But it's not just about rapid idea exchange. Our conference also features interactive sessions and product presentations that offer a rare peek at what's coming next on our platform. I find these moments particularly exciting because they bridge the gap between the theoretical side of continuous improvement and the practical, hands-on application of our technology. We know that the magic really happens when you combine improvement methodologies, leadership mindsets, and the right technology.
Learning Across Industries
One of the highlights of KaiNexicon for me is the cross-industry interaction. I've seen professionals from healthcare, manufacturing, financial services, and more come together, sharing their unique challenges and successes. It's amazing to realize that while the specifics may differ, the core of every business–revenue, expenses, and people–remains the same.
I often hear stories of how a healthcare provider like UMass Memorial or a financial institution can offer insights that are just as valuable to a manufacturing company. It reinforces a fundamental truth: while you can't copy and paste a process from one organization to another, you can certainly learn the underlying principles and adapt them to your own unique context.
The Synergy of Methodology, Management, and Technology
Throughout our conversation, we underscored that true transformation happens when you blend continuous improvement methodology with strong leadership and the right technology. At KaiNexus, our platform isn't just a tool–it's an integral part of our continuous improvement culture. Every suggestion, every piece of feedback is captured and discussed, ensuring that we're always pushing the envelope on what's possible.
It's this integrated approach that I believe sets us apart. When you see teams from various parts of an organization–be it product development, testing, or back-office operations–engaging directly with customers, it creates an energy that's hard to replicate in any other setting. And that's the power of KaiNexicon.
An Invitation to Innovate
If you're involved in continuous improvement or are a KaiNexus customer, I'd love for you to join us at KaiNexicon this year. From April 29 to May 1 in downtown Austin, the event promises to be an immersive experience filled with interactive sessions, cross-industry networking, and a forward-looking glimpse at our new product developments.
Whether you're looking to refine your improvement strategies, get inspired by the success stories of your peers, or simply explore new ways to innovate within your organization, KaiNexicon is designed to deliver actionable insights and foster genuine connections.
Final Thoughts
Reflecting on my conversation with Greg, I'm reminded of why I'm so passionate about what we do at KaiNexus. Continuous improvement isn't about making one big leap–it's about the small, consistent steps we take every day. There's no better day than today to kickstart or enhance your journey toward continuous improvement.
I look forward to seeing many familiar faces–and meeting new ones–at KaiNexicon. Let's come together, share our experiences, and keep pushing the boundaries of what's possible in continuous improvement.
