#KaizenLive!Joe Swartz and I have been working for a while to put together our first onsite Kaizen workshop at his health system, Franciscan St. Francis Health – all day tomorrow and Thursday morning.

We're excited that the workshop / conference sold out and we have 25 people attending from different health systems and organizations. A few are from areas outside of healthcare, some are from hospitals, EMS, and even military medicine. We might do this again in the future, so contact us if you'd like to be informed of future opportunities.

The thing that's bringing everyone together is a love for continuous improvement and a passion for bringing this to everybody in our organizations. This visit is a chance for people to see and hear about Kaizen first hand at an organization that has implemented (and documented) more than 23,000 improvements since 2007. They are featured heavily in our Healthcare Kaizen books.

The attendees will get to see and meet and hear from the leaders you see in these videos… and they'll get to do “gemba walks” in Endoscopy, NICU, and Pharmacy.

I'll be sharing things on Twitter (@MarkGraban) and I'll encourage attendees to do the same. I'm going to be using the hashtag #KaizenLive.

I will also be taking a lot of pictures and video. I might try to experiment with a new technology and app called “Periscope” that streams live video from some of the time we'll spend in the conference center with presentations and discussions (not from the “gemba” visits). Any of those live streaming sessions will probably just be announced spur of the moment on Twitter and I'll save recordings. If you're interested in trying this, download the app in advance.

I will also share some stories and updates here on the blog, probably by next week — stay tuned!
